Commercial Photography Curriculum (7 Weeks)

Commercial Photography is a course designated for students interested in the business of photography as a career venture. This course will teach students both the technical aspects of digital photography as a medium, as well as how to set up a small business and market themselves to run a successful business. Students will also have weekly writing assignments to formally analyze contemporary and historical photographs. By the end of this course, Students will be able to use a camera on the Manual setting, compose an image purposefully, direct their own shoot, have a library of posing options for portrait shoots, have a professional website, and will have the beginnings of a professional photographic portfolio

This class will culminate in four projects that build upon the skills learned in the previous projects. Throughout the semester, students will also work on their professional website and portfolio, allowing themselves to begin marketing their skills and services to the public.
